The third and final installation of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ in James Gunn’s Marvel Cinematic Universe has come to a close on 5th May 2023. But is it truly the end or a new beginning for the beloved Guardian’s character?
This doubtful speculation is currently the hot topic of discussion on the internet as the end credits of the final film left fans utterly confused. This article examines the meaning of the two mysterious end credits rolled in the finale of ‘The Guardians of the Galaxy III’.
What Were The Two End Credit Scenes In ‘The Guardians Of The Galaxy III’?
The final film in the trilogy left the fans bewildered with not one but two end-credit scenes. The first scene was rolled in between the end credits and the other one came right after the final credits rolled up.
The first scene that was shown midway through the end credit portrayed some changes in the Guardians’ roster. Viewers got a glimpse of some characters leaving the roster and embarking on their journey. While others step in their place to continue with the iconic guarding role. This also introduced some new characters like Phyla-Vell into the marvel universe. This is the first time that this beloved comic character got some screen time.
The second end credit scene sort of hinted towards a new beginning in the Guardian universe as a humorous title card read ‘The legendary star-lord will return’. This got the fans excited to see the future fate of Chris Pratt’s beloved fictional character in MCU, perhaps in some cameo roles in Marvel movies or series.
The Future Fate Of The Beloved Guardian Characters
The addition of these two end credits in the finale of the highly successful Marvel franchise has opened up some new potential comebacks or an entirely new generation of guardians in the future of the franchise.
It is somewhat clear that the teenage character portrayed in the first end credit is Phyla-Vell and it was the first step in establishing a new female superhero in MCU. In the future, she will for sure have lead roles in several films and many potential feature roles in other Marvel cinematic productions.
Although, these end credits do not mean that the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ film franchise will have any more installations. The 3rd film put the final nail in the coffin of the Guardian’s franchise. But nothing is set in stone so there might be some recurring roles of its characters in other films.
As of now, neither James Gunn nor any other Marvel member has confirmed any plans regarding the film. Fans will have to wait a bit longer to see any speculations about the end credits coming to fruition. Only time will tell what’s in store.
