Well, it has been reported that John Cena would be playing the role of a merman in the movie. He would be playing the love interest of Dua Lipa’s mermaid Barbie.
Talking about how he got the role, he described it as a happy accident. The actor revealed that he was coincidentally shooting for his next film right across the street from where the shooting for Barbie was taking place.
John further revealed that he pitched himself for the film when he accidentally ran into Margot Robbie on the location. He told her “I would do, pretty much, whatever you guys need’ cause I really enjoy the movie”. In response to this, she asked him if he wanted to be a merman.
The Bumblebee actor also said “Honestly, I think people are going to have a lot of fun watching this, I think it’s going to take a lot of people by surprise. It’s a very interesting take on everything but I was super lucky and it’s tremendously surreal.”
