The last and 6th episode of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series, Secret Invasion has left fans wondering if the series will return on Disney+ with a second season.
Secret Invasion is based on the 2008 Marvel comic that goes by the same name. It follows the story of Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) facing the Skrulls (shapeshifting aliens).
Secret Invasion Returning With Season 2?
The final episode for season 1 was released on July 26th. The first season was met with mixed reviews from fans. No official confirmation has been made by Marvel Studios regarding the second season.
However, if we look at their previously released series, most of them have lasted one season, except for Loki and What if… ?
Even though the season one final episode tried to provide a closure to the story, series director Ali Selim thinks there’s more to it. Talking about the season finale, he said, “When it ends, I hope you feel satiated and complete. And as Marvel does so excellently, you also feel like, ‘Oh, it could go in this direction.'”
He added, “Nick Fury is alive and continues to battle, I don’t think that’s a spoiler alert. And there are some characters that are no longer with us and some characters that live to see another challenge. I would love to see that challenge become season 2.”

Secret Invasion Becomes Marvel’s Lowest-Rated Project Ever
The last episode of Secret Invasion became the lowest-rated episode in the 15 year history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the series got a critic score of 13% on Rotten Tomatoes.
More than $200 million was spent on making the series and what even more disappointing is that the series was highly criticized when it was released due to heavy usage of Artificial
Intelligence in the opening credit scene. Fans were very disappointed as they believed that such use of AI must have replaced artists like graphic designers and animator.
